My name is Daniel Grunhaus

Throughout our life story we all experience times of painful struggle. We may feel stuck, hopeless, and unsure how to move forward. It is during these times that we grow the most. As a therapist, I hold onto that hope until you can grasp it again. I do this by creating a space where your inner most thoughts and feelings can be explored safely while also providing guidance towards becoming your best true self.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHC-S) in North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. I have counseling experience spanning over 12 years across a wide array of settings to include schools, prison, military, acute psychiatric hospitalization and private practice.  My areas of clinical passions surround working with sexual dysfunction, couples, religious wounds, and anxiety.

I am a HUGE geek at heart and when not providing therapy I can usually be found playing RPGs, Board/PC games, walking with my wife and dogs, or playing poker.

Let's see if we are a good fit! Please visit the contact us page to get started.

My name is Dr. Colleen Grunhaus

Deciding to reach out for help is a powerful first step on the road toward change. You may be experiencing pain in your relationships or feeling lost and unhappy. Counseling is a safe space for self-exploration and growth. As your counselor, I will collaborate with you on goals and help you successfully face life’s challenges.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. I have over 12 years of counseling experience and I am also a counselor educator, supervisor, and researcher. I hold a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision with advanced training in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling. I work with families, couples, adults, and adolescents (ages 13 and over). My areas of clinical interest include family stress, couples and marital problems, managing intense emotions, anxiety, depression, and burnout.

I will tailor my counseling approach according to your unique needs. When working with individual clients, I often utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which is effective with emotion regulation, reducing anxiety, increasing mindfulness, and distress tolerance. I also provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which addresses destructive thought patterns that may impact our choices and feelings. When working with families, I often utilize Structural Family Therapy, which addresses communication dynamics that may be preventing positive family interactions. I am also highly trained in a variety of family counseling modalities. When working with couples, I utilize emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. Both of these approaches are strong research-based approaches that help couples find greater fondness, admiration, and connection.

I am looking forward to working with you! Please visit our contact us page to get started.
