Treatment modalities
The counseling approach can be tailored to each client's unique needs. When working with individual clients, Dr. Grunhaus utilizes dialectical behavior therapy, which is helpful for emotion regulation, soothing anxiety, increasing self-awareness, and being able to tolerate life's ups and downs. Other approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy, which addresses destructive thought patterns that may impact our choices and feelings and EMDR for trauma symptoms. When working with couples, Dr. Grunhaus utilizes emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. Both of these approaches are strong research-based approaches that help couples find greater closeness, connection, and understanding.
Education
Dr. Grunhaus holds a Masters in Counseling and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision with advanced training in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling. She works with couples, adults, and adolescents (ages 15 and over).
